A-Team Allstars: When Bigger is Better

Annie Ryan | Oct 10, 2017

Hello Business Owners,

It’s been a few months since we introduced the A-team to you in this blog post; and a few weeks since our co-founder, Alon, talked about the tremendous growth we’ve been experiencing. As you might suspect, we’ve added to the A-team in order to ensure we continue to be there for the increasing number of businesses we work with – we have more than 8000 customers now! In this post, I want to introduce the new members of the A-team and give you an update on how we are continuing to strive to provide an outstanding level of services to the business owners we live and breathe to serve.

Hi, I’m Yasmin!

I’m the third addition to the Next Insurance A-Team. As a San Francisco native with a childhood spent on Guam, I bring the unique mix of city eccentric and island eclectic. I studied at UC Berkeley where I received a degree in Sociology and hope that as a part of the A-Team, I can utilize my knowledge by bringing a more human touch to an increasingly digital world. My passions in life includes traveling, music, and the constant search for new experiences and engaging conversation. I believe the greatest beauty in this world is the diversity and complexity of people, and am proud to be a part of a team which wholeheartedly embraces it too.

Hi, I’m Emily!

I joined Next in August 2017. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in Decision Sciences, with a focus in data analysis, psychology, and human computer interaction. I’ve always been passionate about connecting with people and technology, and my previous experience in digital marketing consulting led me to work really closely with my clients. Since then I’ve been passionate about helping customers and business owners have an effective and efficient experience with insurance and technology! My passions include art, dancing, and eating, so you’ll always find me doing those activities!

Hey there, I’m Gabrielle!

I joined the A-team in August 2017 after working in Higher Education for a little over a year. Part of the reason why I loved working in Higher Ed was the opportunity to work with and help people. I’m so happy that I’ve been able to continue doing this here at Next Insurance. I was born and raised in California and have lived here all my life (other than studying abroad in Rome for 5 months). I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Economy at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) with a concentration in wealth inequality in the United States. My education at UC Berkeley fueled my passion for helping others- a passion that I plan on pursing throughout my life. I am also an avid music lover! I have played the flute since I was 9 years old and have been in marching bands from the 6th grade all the way through college with my participation in the Cal Band at UC Berkeley. I also play the piccolo (smaller version of the flute) and play jazz music on the baritone saxophone (bigger version of a normal saxophone). I also love playing video games and Netflix and I’m always looking for recommendations! I’m excited for what’s in store for my future here at Next Insurance and can’t wait to have the opportunity to help you all!

Hey, I’m Celeste!

I am one of the newest additions to the Next Insurance Team, having started August 2017, but I’ve picked it up quickly and am eagerly pursuing ways to help Next grow. I completed undergrad at UC Berkeley, where I studied Anthropology and Physics, which might explain how I ended up chasing my dreams in a role that, similarly, is both very technical and heavily focused on human interaction. At Berkeley I learned to challenge the status quo, so it makes sense I would end up here, where challenging the status quo and disrupting an industry that has thus far escaped modernization is the core of our mission! When I’m not busy making your day, I can be found playing rugby, performing, hiking with my pup Zumi, installing solar panels as a volunteer, and riding motorcycles.

Hi there, my name is Damani.

Prior to joining the A-Team, I was a 7th grade history teacher in Oakland for two years. Before that, I studied Sociology at Harvard College. I have a passion for sports and music, and was able to fulfill both of them as an undergrad. I was a full-time student, but also ran on the track team, played football, and dabbled in acapella as side hustles. When I’m not working, you’ll typically find me doing something related to those interests. Upon first glance, my immediate history (sociology, sports, music, teaching, insurance) might appear like a hodgepodge of sorts. But in my opinion, they all have at least one thing in common; an opportunity to form and develop meaningful relationships. To me, that’s the most important thing in the world, and a part of why I’m so excited to be a member of the A-Team!

Now that you’ve gotten to know us, I’d like to also share some of the stats that we spend a lot of time thinking about as part of our work. Every week, we talk to over 1000 small business owners – those considering buying from us and those who need help with their existing policy.  On over 80% of email inquiries, our customers get a resolution within an hour – and over 90% of phone calls that come in get picked up by one of our agents immediately.  Needless to say, we are not stopping there – we are always working to improve our performance further.  After all, you don’t have time to spend managing your insurance – you’ve got a business to run!

Finally, I want to brag a bit about the feedback our customers have been giving us. Check out our reviews – over 200 businesses have taken the time to tell us how much they appreciate what we do for them. With an average rating of 4.6, we couldn’t be more proud – or more grateful.

I look forward to coming back to you with another update in a few months – in the meantime, thanks for allowing us to serve you – and please keep sharing ideas on how we can help your business thrive!
