Controller/Senior Accounting Manager


The Controller will work very closely with the CFO to manage all reporting requirements across the company and various state Insurance Departments, and will assist with creating policies and related processes. They will assist with the audit process and carry primary responsibility for tax filings and processes in a growing company working in all US states.

Responsibilities

Accounting Matters

Perform regular monthly close and reconciliation and all financial (GAAP, ad hoc, etc.) reporting requirements

Assist with identifying and implementing corporate control policies and processes

Continually improve financial reporting procedures

Lead audit process (for financial GAAP reports); assist with audit process for statutory insurance needs

Responsible for tax filings and processes

Insurance Company and Licensing Compliance

Assist with all statutory reporting compliance matters

Desired Skills and Experience:

Prior experience at a Big Four accounting firm (KPMG, EY, PWC, Deloitte) in the audit practice and prior startup accounting experience

Experience with GAAP accounting and FASB standards including revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock compensation expense, etc.

Experience putting implementing new processes and streamline existing processes and documenting as necessary

Experience transitioning to a more robust general ledger system; experience identifying and implementing enterprise reporting system to satisfy dynamic business requirements

Experience in a highly regulated industry (and experience working with various regulation authorities) a plus

Experience collaborating with external third parties and internal stakeholders to complete various financial and accounting deliverables
