We are seeking an Email Marketing Manager to establish our company wide email strategy and drive the LTV of our customers. Next is well positioned to become the leader in the $140 billion small business insurance market because we offer a 100% online experience that is tailored to unique business needs and we get customers insured in minutes - something no one else does.
Despite the size of the market, the experience of buying small business insurance has not caught up with best practices instituted in other industries like banking, lending, and even personal lines insurance. There is still a lot of paper involved, purchasing a policy can take days or even weeks, and the coverage is so complex that it’s hard for entrepreneurs to understand what they are buying. We're here to change that. Our goal is to make insurance simple, affordable, and transparent for small businesses so they can stop worrying about insurance and focus on running their businesses.
About This Role:
The Email Marketing Manager role is at the center of our customer lifecycle strategy. This person is responsible for managing and optimizing all email campaigns for the company, setting the strategy to engage and convert customers through email outreach, and increasing overall LTV through targeted tactics and testing. This includes helping us establish our new email system, putting together targeting strategies, developing messaging that converts, testing programs that optimize results, and operationalizing and automating the process as a whole. This role reports to the Head of Lifecycle and partners with Creative, Product Marketing, Partnerships, Channel Marketing and Product regularly.
You are customer-centric marketer with great technical skills and good creative gut. A natural at getting things done, you’ve owned and driven email campaigns in your previous roles and delivered clear results. You're ready to own the full company email strategy and to build a function that meets revenue and customer value goals. You get excited about coming up with innovative campaigns and optimizing for results. You’re comfortable in the data, but also know how to connect the dots on the full picture of the consumer. You're ready to build something foundational in a fast-growing startup.
Plan, produce, and automate email campaigns to ensure that prospects are nurtured throughout the funnel driving conversion, cross-sell, and ultimately LTV.
Build the email strategy from end-to-end including segmentation, sequencing, and optimization.
Establish our first-ever direct email program. Identify high-value prospects and develop innovative ways to get their attention.
Develop the compelling messaging that gets prospective customers to engage with us. Work with creative to develop assets that bring our brand personality to life and drive customers through the funnel.
Set specifications and help implement our new marketing automation tool. Automate sending for optimized sequencing, AB testing and targeting to drive the best results and LTV.
QA all deliverables to ensure tests are accurate prior to deployment.
Analyze and improve key metrics like open, click, bounce, abuse and unsubscribe rates. Optimize for mobile, web and browser-specific viewing environments. Understand the technical requirements to achieve success.
Work with Product Marketing, Channel Marketing, Partnerships, and the broader Lifecycle team to activate customers at every part of their journey.

Support strategic programs like launches and partnerships by being the conduit between Next and the custom
Desired Skills and Experience:
3-5 years of email marketing experience
Experience owning a variety of campaigns from prospecting, to nurturing and upsell/cross sell
Experienced with a range of testing methodologies and analysis
Ability to work well with creative teams; good marketing intuition when it comes to evaluating email copy and imagery
Demonstrated impact on sales and LTV through campaign work
Hands-on experience with HTML and CSS and strong capabilities with email automation tools and CRM systems
Experience with systems like Marketo, Salesforce, Hubspot, and others
Adept at segmentation, targeting, and optimization work
Good communicator with a point of view on how to collaborate across marketing
Excited to establish the foundational email strategy at a fast growing company
