Head of Insurance Product Strategy


We're seeking for a talented, passionate problem-solving leader to head our team of Insurance Product Managers. This is a highly visible position that will report to our Chief Operating Officer and work closely with colleagues at all levels. The insurance product team is responsible for designing and developing the insurance products our company sells to small business owners – and the team’s work is central to the company’s success. Responsibilities

Lead the insurance product team which is currently comprised of four Product Managers and an Insurance Compliance Manager. Keep the team members challenged and excited, and deliver on our promise of unmatched development opportunities for the team.

Continue to grow the team as needed – we plan to grow to more than 10 people within 12 months.

Be accountable for our Insurance Product Strategy – including prioritization of product launches, defining the insurance product roles, developing playbooks for product development and ongoing optimization. Deliver on our promise of simple, affordable, tailored products.

Build expertise on Insurance Product topics – including competitive landscape and the latest innovation in the industry

Partner closely with internal teams (particularly the A-team of customer support, technical product, and data science) to use the voice of the customer and product performance data to identify improvement opportunities in areas including experience simplification, pricing, and underwriting - and to execute on them

Manage external partnerships, including third party experts, re-insurers, and vendors, and ensure that we are getting the most out of these partnerships

Desired Skills and Experience:

BA/BS degree from a top US university

2-5 years of experience in an Analyst/Associate role with a premier consulting firm, a hedge fund, or a leading financial services institution

Strong team leader, experienced in managing professionals of high caliber, shaping strategy and delivering on challenging goals. 2+ years of leadership experience managing a team of at least 7-10 professionals

Strong problem structuring and quantitative problem solving skills

Proven ability to develop and manage internal and external partnerships

Highly organized, able to keep multiple balls in the air, and make progress on all fronts
