Small business insurance is a $135 billion industry in the US, but less than 1% of small businesses can actually find, purchase, and manage their insurance online. We're here to change that. Our goal is to make insurance simple, affordable, and transparent for small businesses so they can stop worrying about insurance and focus on running their businesses. We just raised our Series C at a $1billion+ valuation, are growing fast and we're looking for a talented, passionate problem-solving leader to head our Insurance function. This is a highly visible position that reports to our Chief Operating Officer and work closely with colleagues at all levels. The Insurance team is responsible for building and managing Insurance Products our company offers to US small businesses – and the team’s work is central and critical to the company’s success. Responsibilities:

Lead the Insurance function, comprised of the Insurance Product team (10 Product Managers) and the Insurance Product Compliance team (7 Compliance Specialists).

Keep the team members challenged and excited, deliver on our promise of unmatched development opportunities for the team. Continue to grow the team as needed – the team will likely grow 50-100% over the next 12-18 months

Be accountable for Next’s Insurance Product Strategy – including prioritization of product launches, defining the PM role, developing playbooks for product development and ongoing optimization. Deliver on our promise of simple, affordable, tailored products – and build the product portfolio out to offer a one-stop shopping experience to small businesses

Ensure we are building and operating out products in a compliant manner – and build Product Compliance into one of the company’s core competencies

Partner closely with internal teams (particularly Product, Customer Support, Technical Product, and Data) to use the Voice of the Customer and product performance data to identify improvement opportunities in areas including experience simplification, pricing, and underwriting - and to execute on them

Manage external partnerships, including 3rd party experts, reinsurers, and vendors – ensure Next is getting the most out of these partnerships

Desired Skills and Experience:

BA/BS degree from a top US university, graduate degree preferred but not required

10+ years of experience in a mix of professional services (consulting / banking) and operational roles. Deep understanding of the Financial Services industry – experience in Insurance valued, but not required

Strong team leader, experienced in partnering with C-level executives, managing professionals of high caliber, shaping strategy and delivering on challenging goals. 5+ years of leadership experience managing a team of at least 10 professionals

Strong problem structuring and quantitative problem solving skills

Proven ability to develop and manage internal and external partnerships

Highly organized, able to keep multiple balls in the air, and make progress on all fronts
