About This Role
We are seeking our first ever Copywriting leader to establish our verbal identity and create a personality our customers love to connect with. This role reports into the Head of Creative and will have a wide scope that requires building and managing the copywriting team and establishing the voice of the brand across all assets: web, email, advertising, customer learning, and agent outreach.
You are passionate about building brand personalities that connect with consumers and you are excited to shape something new. You love learning about consumers, what motivates them and makes them tick, and you are inspired by the vision of helping our entrepreneurs thrive. Small business owners shop like you and I do - not like enterprise businesses - so our brand needs to build a connection with the individual in a way that has not been done before in this space. You are the smart, strategic, and creative individual that can do it.
Help establish the verbal personality of the brand: tone of voice, choice of words, way of speaking
Drive the verbal identity for the brand across all channels: website, email, advertising, purchase funnel etc.
Build out the team of copywriters over time to serve the growing creative and communication needs of the business
Help set campaign strategy for Brand, Innovation, and Lifecycle
Collaborate with the cross functional Creative team to execute campaigns
Strategize with teams like Operations, Customer Support, and Product to better help our customers learn about and manage their policies
Drive consistency and review content before it goes live
Be the keeper of the brand voice and inspire the organization to reflect it throughout all customer touchpoints
Desired Skills and Experience:
5+ years of experience in copywriting and creative
Demonstrated experience defining brand voice and managing excellence across a wide range of marketing assets
Excellent creative writing and grammatical skills - you can write the big headlines to grab attention, but are also focused on getting the details right
Experience building and/or managing team members
Ability to integrate customer data and insights into campaign strategy
Ability to break down complex, technical topics and make them sound more human
Comfortable partnering with editorial writers to drive the identity through longer form content
Positive, adaptable, and excited for a challenge
