How Much is General Liability Insurance for a Carpenter?

Carpenters can be faced with certain types of expenses that general liability insurance can help defend against.

These could include physical injuries to people other than you or your employees, such as someone tripping on your tools while you’re working. They could also include damage to property, and claims that you damaged someone’s reputation, whether through something you said or something you wrote.

Carpentry general liability insurance is the most basic sort of insurance, covering your business against accusations of damage that might be far out of your control. That’s why it’s so critical; it gives you the confidence to work on your business, knowing you’re covered.

Most of our customers pay: $380-$673 annually, or between $-$50 per month
Per occurrence limit: $300,000-$1 million, depending on your policy
Aggregate policy limit: $300,000-$2 million, depending on your policy
Deductible: $0

How Much is Carpenter Professional Liability/Errors and Omissions Insurance?

Professional liability insurance for carpenters is related to the projects you do and your role on those sites. It’s a much more specific type of coverage than general liability, including protecting you in cases where there are accusations that you may not have done your job properly, and that your work needs to be redone, or fixed. Carpenter professional liability insurance claims are usually much lower than general liability claims, which is why the coverage we offer has lower limits.

Professional liability insurance is part of the Pro and Pro Plus plans we offer. It’s not available as a separate policy, but it is included within those plans.

Most of our customers pay: An additional 4-8% for this coverage, which is reflected in the total policy cost
Per occurrence limit: $0-$20,000, depending on your policy
Aggregate policy limit: $0-$50,000, depending on your policy
Deductible: $500

Carpenter Claims We've Covered:

Insured and two employees were working on the claimant's bathroom. He was installing a vanity in the bathroom, into which hot and cold water pipes should feed. The cabinet he was working on touched one of the pipes, and because cpvc pipes are very brittle, it broke, which the insured did not know until he heard water in the basement. At that point, he descended to find there was significant water flooding the basement. He ran to a store and got equipment to extract water from the carpet, but the homeowner decided he didn't want them to go further with that, and asked them to call and file instead. There is some water still in the basement, causing damage to carpet and furniture, and because it went into the sealant, the homeowner is concerned water may have gone into walls/insulation as well.
Insured was a subcontractor on a job. There is damage to the siding that he was installing and damage to gutters as well. Siding is cracked, and gutter downspouts were damaged with the hangers.
Claim scenarios are shown for illustrative purposes only. Coverage is dependent on policy terms and conditions and the actual facts and circumstances giving rise to a claim.

What’s Not Covered by This Policy?

Different types of work, including:

Installation of flooring that is ceramic, tile, or stone
